Tappahannock Main Street

Tappahannock Main Street is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We are a newly designated community of Virginia Main Street and an affiliate of Main Street America. TMS program is asset and preservation based economic development, meaning the organization identifies its biggest assets and our uniqueness and maximizes those to their fullest potential keeping the charm of the community.

The Main Street America program offers a road-map for locally-owned, locally-driven prosperity through the Main Street Approach which is designed to transform economies, leverage local leadership, and improve overall quality of life. Main Street has proven itself to be one of the most impactful, cost-effective community revitalization models in the country.

Main Street also provides the leadership training, resources, and grassroots network to further sustain a solid transformation and a true 'best version of self' - which is why there are more than 1,600 thriving Main Street communities today.

Tappahannock Main Street’s historic district will serve as a central place of gathering where locals and visitors frequent to experience unique shops, eateries and riverfront activities; where the young and young-at-heart will experience an exciting community rich in history, culture, and special events. Our town is full of energy interwoven by a diverse group of citizens embracing life at a river’s pace.
